The Journey so far

2009 July 3rd. Its official the first two Xoloitzcuintle arrive at Perth International Airport from The USA via New Zealand.

2nd August. at 0900 two Xoloitzcuintle left Byford quarantine station and headed to Bunbury, at 10:50 they were greeted at Bunbury Dog Club by Sheryl Cook and enrolled in their first Australian Dog Club.

4th August. Breed Standard Extension Submitted to the ANKC.

12th August. Commence Basic Training Bunbury and Districts Dog Club.

9th September. Official sponsorship and ambassador Program granted from Eagle Pack Holistic Dog Food.

September. Article in the Jet Pets Newsletter.

September. Xolo Article in Sunday Times News Paper

5th October. Awaiting confirmation from ANKC after State member bodies perusal of BSE and supporting documents for Breed Recognition.

9th October. Attend RSPCA Happy Tails Day Perth City.

5th October.Attend a Bunbury and Districts Dog show for experience and Community Education, first public Dog Show, talk to many interested curious people.

November. PetStock Expo Eagle Pack Ambassador attendance.

November. Bunbury Dog Expo.

January 2010. Xolos first Australia day, small news article in West Australian Newspaper.

February 26th 2010. Official Breed Recognition of the Xoloitzcuintle in Australia.

March 2010: Hip and Elbow xrays completed and evaluated for breeding. Excellent Aus and Int Grades.

July 3rd 2010 Xoloitzcuintles first show at Canine Grounds Southern River Western Australia.
Besitos Naca and Besitos Taha Daha debut for the Xoloitzcuintle breed for Australasia at the Canine Dogswest Grounds in West Australia. Naca BOB, Taha Daha RU BOB, we were all very proud when Naca was shortlisted for a Group7 placement from a stunning line up at his first outing. Thanks to handlers Kim and Ian Cross, Judge Mr Rick Berwick., and the Xolo supporters who turned up on the day.

October 31st 2010 at the all Breeds dog Club Championship Show held at Dogswest.
The first ever Xoloitzcuintle was titled in Australasia. Besitos Naca (Imp USA) is now known as Australian Champion Besitos  Naca (Imp USA). Naca was handled to his title by Kim Cross and Junior Handler Makaela Edmonston, we at Wazzat cannot thank all the wonderful people who helped show Naca along the way, Joanne Tilbrook, Joy Lanham, Aimee Wasley, Tony and Sue Mallia. We were very pleased to have class in group and runner up in group placements along with many short lists.

December 11th 2010 Hills Kennel Club WA
Besitos Taha Daha obtained her Australian Champion status, again many thanks to Kim Cross, Makaela Edmonston and Tony Mallia for showing Taha to her title, showed sparingly we are pleased to say she had some class wins and short lists in groups.

November 3rd 2011The arrival of the third Xoloitzcuintle to Australasia. Pitaya (Alvarez) arrived through the USA (Patty Hoover ) from a well respected breed expert in Mexico (Mr Victor Alvarez), we look forward to her exciting show career and breed education.

Exciting news from ANKC New Breeds Committee, ANKC Regulations Part 6 3.3. changed to state that ALL pedigrees from recognized overseas bodies must be accepted as they are, meaning Pitaya (Alvarez) is now registered as is and the first dog under the rules to be registered with no prefix. Thank you to Wayne Burton, Graham Doyle and the New Breeds Committee of the ANKC for your encouragement and help.

Three Xoloitzcuintle dogs compete at the prestigious Sydney Royal show and breed display.

April 2012
Pitaya (Alvarez) Imp Mexico remains in New South Wales for shows and breed education with Philipa Cracknell, attaining her Australian Championship title and a record three Group 1sts and Runner Up in Group (Group 2nd) and four Junior in Groups with Junior in show in a matter of under four weeks. 

SEPTEMBER 2012
Ch Besitos Naca becomes the first Xolo to be handled at a Royal show by a Junior handler ( Lauren of WA), winning her heat at Perth Royal Show. Judge gave glowing critiques of all three Xoloitzcuintle.

APRIL 2013
Three Xoloitzcuintle dogs exhibited at the Sydney Royal Show, the Xoloitzcuintle Breed information stall wind “Most Informative Breed display 2013”

JUNE 2013
Australias fourth Xoloitzcuintle arrives from Norway, Local Heros Filipa (FRIBERG) arrives at three months and 2 days.
